Source is a coffee shop and roastery in Portland, Oregon, that specializes in single origin coffee. In addition to brewing coffee to order in their shop, they sell whole bean coffee for their customers to brew at home.

For their branding, I decided to make a simple logotype that would allow the unique origins of the coffee beans to be highlighted. I did so on their coffee bag by featuring a map of the coffee’s source, from Peru to Indonesia, as well as information about that place. The front of the Ethiopia bag, for example, features an Ethiopian weaving inside the outline of the country. The back of the bag has a brief history of coffee in Ethiopia, as well as suggested home brewing methods. The sides of the bag have a pattern of various home coffee brewers, a design feature consistent across their bags. These illustrated elements can be used across other collateral and in the shop.
